Echoes of Terror: The Screaming Man on the Streets

It was a dark and stormy night, the rain was pouring heavily and the wind was howling like a pack of wolves. The streets were deserted, except for one man who was screaming at the top of his lungs. His cries echoed through the empty streets, sending chills down the spines of those who heard it.

People who lived in the neighborhood peeked through their windows, wondering what could be causing such a commotion. They had never heard anything like it before. It was a piercing, blood-curdling scream, filled with terror and desperation.

One brave soul, a young woman named Sarah, decided to venture outside to see if she could help. She grabbed her umbrella and stepped out into the rain, making her way towards the source of the screams. As she got closer, she realized that the screams were coming from a man in the alleyway between two buildings.

Sarah approached the man cautiously, her heart racing with fear. When she finally got a good look at him, she gasped in horror. The man's clothes were torn and tattered, and his face was contorted in terror. He was covered in bruises and cuts, as if he had been in a terrible fight.

"What's wrong?" Sarah asked, trying to keep her voice steady. "What happened to you?"

The man turned towards her, his eyes wild with fear. "They're after me!" he screamed. "They won't stop! They're coming for me!"

Sarah's blood ran cold as she realized that the man was not alone. She could hear the sound of footsteps getting closer and closer, the sound of something dragging behind them. She didn't wait to see what it was. She grabbed the man's hand and pulled him with her, running as fast as they could back towards her apartment building.

When they finally made it inside, Sarah locked the door behind them and called the police. But when they arrived, the man was gone. The only sign that he had ever been there was a trail of muddy footprints leading away from the door.

No one ever saw the man again. Some say that he was taken by the things that were after him, never to be seen again. Others say that he was a madman, ranting and raving in the streets. But Sarah knew the truth. She had seen the fear in the man's eyes, and she knew that something terrible was out there, waiting in the night.

From that day on, Sarah never ventured outside after dark. And every time she heard a scream in the night, she would close her eyes and pray that it was not the man from the alleyway, coming to claim her as his next victim.
